Overview
Trip Overview – Valparai
Valparai is a tranquil hill station perfect for a peaceful nature getaway. Surrounded by emerald-green tea plantations, mist-covered peaks, and cascading waterfalls, it offers a refreshing escape from city life. Wildlife lovers can spot rare species like the lion-tailed macaque, while scenic viewpoints such as Loam’s View Point and Nallamudi Poonjolai offer breathtaking panoramas. With a cool climate year-round, serene dams, and charming estates, Valparai promises a rejuvenating blend of natural beauty, wildlife, and quiet charm.
Athirappilly (often called the “Niagara of India”) is a breathtaking waterfall located in the Thrissur district of Kerala. Cascading from a height of about 80 feet, it is the largest waterfall in Kerala and a major tourist attraction. The falls are formed by the Chalakudy River, which originates from the Anamalai Hills in Tamil Nadu.
Surrounded by lush Sholayar forests, Athirappilly is home to rich wildlife, including elephants, hornbills, and even the elusive lion-tailed macaque. The mist-covered view of the waterfall, especially during the monsoon, is mesmerizing.
It’s also a popular spot for film shoots—many Indian movies have featured Athirappilly’s grandeur. Tourists often combine their visit with nearby attractions like Vazhachal Waterfalls, Charpa Falls, and the Sholayar Dam.
